Washington, D.C. - Former Georgetown track & field standouts Chris Lukezic and Treniere Clement won the respective 1500m races on Saturday afternoon at the 2006 USA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Boston, Mass. With the victories, both qualify for the 2006 IAAF World Championships on March 10-12 in Moscow.
Lukezic edged two-time indoor champion Jason Lunn at the finish line, crossing in 3:41.84, just over a tenth of a second faster than Lunn. Meanwhile, Clement, the 2005 Outdoor champion, won by more than a second with a time of 4:08.13, beating rival and collegiate champion Tiffany McWilliams.
In other championship action, current Georgetown assistant coach Monica Hargove placed fourth in the 400m on Sunday, qualifying for the American 4x400m relay team for the upcoming Worlds. Hargrove, who qualified for Sunday's final with a time of 53.70 on Saturday, improved to a time of 53.27.
Ali Najjar, a 2004 Georgetown graduate, qualified for the finals and finished seventh in the 800m at 1:52.83.
