Georgetown Announces 2006 Football Schedule

Feb. 28, 2006

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University head football coach Kevin Kelly announced the team's schedule for the 2006 season. Kelly is in his first season at the helm of the program after being hired in January.

The 2006 schedule is highlighted by five home games, including three against conference opponents, and a pair of games against teams from the Ivy League.

"It's a challenging schedule, but all of the coaches and our players are looking forward to it," Kelly said. "We want to be among the best in the Patriot League and we're going to be tested week-in and week-out."

The Hoyas open the season on Saturday, September 2, hosting Patriot League rival Holy Cross at the Multi-Sport Field. They play a non-conference game the following weekend, hosting Stony Brook on Saturday, September 16.

Georgetown will hit the road for three-straight games, including back-to-back non-league games against Ivy League opponents. The first away game is on Saturday, September 16, when the Hoyas visit Brown. They follow that with a trip to New York City, playing at Columbia on Saturday, September 23. The road trip ends on Saturday, September 30, as the Hoyas play at Colgate.

The Hoyas return home on Saturday, October 7, playing Lehigh and then play host to Bucknell on Saturday, October 14.

Georgetown will travel to play at Charleston Southern - a Big South Conference member that went 7-4 last year - on Saturday, October 28, before returning to Washington for its final home game. The Hoyas wrap up their home portion of the schedule on Saturday, November 4, hosting Marist.

The season closes with a pair of conference road games, first on Saturday, November 11 at Lafayette, and then on Saturday, November 18 at Fordham.

Georgetown starts spring football practice on Tuesday, March 14. The spring game will take place on Saturday, April 8.
