Philadelphia, Pa. - The Georgetown outdoor track & field team continued action at the 2006 Penn Relays on Friday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
Georgetown challenged for the men's distance medley relay Championship of America on Friday afternoon. The Hoyas ended up sixth with a time of 9:37.83. Sophomore Matt Debole (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) led off for Georgetown with a 2:58.7 1200m split, followed by freshman Kenny Mitchell (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake), who ran a 48.3 400m. A pair of seniors finished the relay for the Hoyas, as Chris Bonner (Weston, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) ran 1:50.3 in the 800m and Rod Koborsi (Houston, Texas/Jersey Village) anchored with the 1600m in 4:00.5.
Junior Ashley Mondie (Washington, D.C./Milton Hershey) ended up fifth in the women's Eastern triple jump competition. Her jump of 11.92m in the finals, also qualified her for the ECAC and BIG EAST Outdoor Championships.
Meanwhile, freshman Khyle Osborne (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) made his Hoya debut at the Penn Relays, tying for 12th in the shot put with a distance of 15.04m.
Action for the Hoyas tomorrow at Franklin Field begins at 11 a.m.
