July 18, 2006
Welcome! This past week was very eventful. We had two 7-on-7s in conjunction with our normal workouts. On Wednesday July 12th, 2006 we faced the University of Maryland Terrapins and faired extremely well. Our performance at Maryland was the truest indication of our undying work ethic this entire off-season and throughout the summer. We also faced Bowie State this past Saturday July 15th, 2006, again yielding a positive outcome. This past weekend was a sweltering one, but in the heat, we were aided by many of the incoming football freshmen. We had freshmen participate in every series of the scrimmage. There were some noteworthy performances. Offensively, Matt Lyod `10 posted several catches and one touchdown, and Travis Mack '10 posted numerous catches. Defensively, Willie Bodrick II `10 posted an interception. The willingness of the freshmen to come out and resiliently cope with the new systems is a very encouraging sign for the program.
On another note, the men of summer here in DC are still pushing ourselves to the limit; more members of the team passed their conditioning tests this past week and have been posting monstrous numbers in the weight room, en route to getting ready for the season. We are tired and sore-- if you all in your respective states are not, you ain't working hard enough. Camp is less than three weeks away-- continue to push. Work hard! Work harder! Beat Holy Cross!
The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender.
