New Haven, Conn. - New Haven, Conn. - The Georgetown University men's tennis team concluded their weekend at the Wilson/ITA Northeast Regional Championships at Yale University on Sunday, as graduate student Ned Samuelson (Belmont, Mass./Milton Academy) fell to Harvard's Sasha Ermakov 6-4, 6-4 in the third round to be the final Hoya eliminated.
Samuelson had a first round bye before defeating Yale's Calvin Bennett, 6-2, 6-1 in the second round, though his run would be halted one round later, as Samuelson continues to work his way back from a one-year layoff.
Senior captain Adam Gross (Quogue, N.Y./Westhampton) defeated James Murphy of Lafayette in the first round, 6-1, 6-0, but fell in the second to Cornell's Josh Goldstein, 6-0, 6-2. Junior David Tillem (Atlanta, Ga./The Weber School) fell in the first round to St. Bonaventure's Leo Mochizuki, 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles play Gross and Samuelson fell to Yale's pair, 8-4 in the first round.
