Washington, D.C. - After 14 practices during the course of the last month, the Georgetown University football team will close out its 2008 spring schedule with a Blue-Gray Scrimmage on the Multi-Sport Field on Saturday, April 12. Kick-off for the scrimmage is slated for 4 p.m.
Head Coach Kevin Kelly and his staff will split the squad into two teams and plan to run about 70 plays during the scrimmage.
"We've had a very good spring," Kelly said. "The young men have responded and there is a great attitude out on the field. Like any team, we've been banged up a little bit here and there, but for the most part, we've been able to have good, productive practices and we're looking forward to finishing on a strong note on Saturday."
A cookout will be held following the game, prepared by the Georgetown University Grilling Society and sponsored by the Georgetown Football Parents Association. Kelly and his staff will announce the team's captains for the 2008 season and the most improved players from spring practice at the start of the post-game festivities.
Kelly, who is completing his second season on the Hilltop, and the Hoyas will open the 2008 season on Saturday, September 6, visiting Howard University. The 2008 home opener is slated for Saturday, September 27, when Patriot League rival Holy Cross visits the Multi-Sport Field.
