Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University Head Football Coach Kevin Kelly announced today that Adam Banks has been named an assistant coach with the Hoya program.
Banks, a 2005 graduate of Georgetown and a former football player, will oversee the wide receivers.
"We're thrilled to have Adam join the staff on a full-time basis," Kelly said. "He came on board last year and did a great job. It's great to have someone from the Hoya football family return home."
Banks came back to the Hilltop in 2007, serving as a defensive assistant coach. He was also working in the athletic department offices at The Potomac School in Virginia, serving as a coach for the basketball and track and field teams.
A four-year letterwinner from 2001-04, Banks was a defensive back. He finished his career in 2004 after appearing in 47 games, registering 84 tackles (61 solo), six interceptions and 13 pass deflections.
Georgetown opens the 2008 season on Saturday, September 6, visiting Howard for the first-ever meeting between the only two college programs in the District of Columbia that sponsor Division I football. Kickoff at Howard is slated for 1 p.m.
