Hoya Headliner Introduces Incoming Freshman Andrew Schaetzke

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Freshman Andrew Schaetzke introduces himself to the Hilltop in this edition of Hoya Headliner. A native from Toledo, Ohio, the 6-4, 235 lbs. defensive lineman joins the Hoyas having played four years of football at St. John's Jesuit while earning first-team all-city, all-district and all-state honors. Here's your first look at the freshman...

Hoya Headliner: What coach recruited you and how was the recruiting process for you?
Schaetzke: Coach (Frank) Colaprete. It was definitely good. My dad really liked him, and he related to me well.

Hoya Headliner: How long have you been on campus for?
Schaetzke: I've been here since July 5.

Hoya Headliner: Have you enjoyed being on campus so far?
Schaetzke: Yes, I have.

Hoya Headliner: What ultimately was the final decision in your selecting Georgetown?
Schaetzke: Academics. It was family decision we made together.

Hoya Headliner: How has the transition from high school to college been for you so far?
Schaetzke: It's been a little more tedious with less free time.

Hoya Headliner: How have preseason workouts been going?
Schaetzke: So far they've been kind of tiring because I was out of shape.

Hoya Headliner: Has anything surprised you as far as the amount of conditioning and weight room work you are doing?
Schaetzke: No, this is college.

Hoya Headliner: Are there any players you've become friends with right away?
Schaetzke: Yes, Wayne Heimuli, Jayah Kaisamba, James Brady, Keion Wade and my high school teammate Rick Rattay.

Hoya Headliner: Have you been able to explore M Street and Washington, D.C. at all?
Schaetzke: Not this week, but I hope to on the weekends.

Hoya Headliner: Do you have any superstitions before games?
Schaetzke: To get focused

Hoya Headliner: Who is your favorite football player?
Schaetzke: Michael Strahan

Hoya Headliner: Who are your favorite teams, first in football and then other sports?
Schaetzke: Green Bay Packers and Phoenix Suns for basketball.

Hoya Headliner: What would you do if you won a million dollars?
Schaetzke: Help out my family and invest the rest.

Hoya Headliner: If you could get front row tickets to any concert, now or in the past, which would it be?
Schaetzke: Red Hot Chili Peppers

Schaetzke: Working hard to earn playing time and working hard to get good grades.
