WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's golf team will compete this Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 19-20) at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate at the 5,939 yard, par-71 Greenville Country Club in Greenville, N.C.
This year's slate includes 15 teams, nine of which are ranked in Golfweek's Top 100. The Hoyas will face East Carolina (84), East Tennessee State (61), Elon, Gardner Webb, Georgia State (57), James Madison (78), Maryland (60), Miami (Fla.), Michigan (56), UNC Greensboro (65), Old Dominion, UTEP (91), William & Mary (71) and Xavier.
Sophomores Eunae Jo (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) and Joan Dulieu (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Detroit Country Day) will lead the squad, with freshmen Katie Skinner (Boise, Idaho/Bishop Kelly), Simone Strauss (Palm Desert, Calif./Palm Desert) and Audrey Dalton (Portland, Ore./St. Mary's Academy) rounding up the lineup. Rookie Jordan Redfield (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) will compete as an individual in the tournament.
Last year at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate, the Hoyas finished in sixth place (70-over par 922) of 20 teams. GU graduate Chelsea Curtis tied for third overall in the competition with a seven-over par 220. Georgia State is the reigning team champion, shooting a 30-over par 882 to win the2008 crown.
Most recently, Georgetown competed at the Xavier Invitational (Oct. 9-10) in Dayton Beach, Fla., where it finished in 13th place among 15 teams with a 78-over par 942. Dulieu was GU's top performer and finished in 22nd place at 12-over par 228.
The Hoyas will next compete at the Ross Rogers Invitational at Mid-Pines Country Club in Southern Pines, N.C. on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 26-27).
