Georgetown Announces 2009 Football Schedule

March 16, 2009

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University football Head Coach Kevin Kelly announced the 2009 schedule for the Hoyas, highlighted by six home games, one at night, and one against the defending Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) National Champions.

The Hoyas open the 2009 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Patriot League rival Holy Cross.

Following that game, Georgetown will return home to the Multi-Sport Field, hosting Patriot League rival Lafeyette in a game slated to kick off at 6 p.m. It will be the first home game at night since the team made the Multi-Sport Field its home during the 2005 season.

That game is the first of three-straight home games for the Hoyas, who will welcome Ivy League foe Yale to the Hilltop on Saturday, Sept. 19. On Saturday, Sept. 26, Georgetown will meet Howard for the Second Annual D.C. Cup. In last year's inaugural game, GU posted a 12-7 win at Howard.

The team hits the road for a pair of games, traveling to play at Bucknell on Saturday, Oct. 3 and then to Lehigh on Saturday, Oct. 10. GU returns home to host Colgate on Saturday, Oct. 17 before its bye week.

Following the bye week, the Hoyas hit the road for a pair of games, playing first-year program Old Dominion on Saturday, Oct. 31 and then at Marist on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Defending FCS National Champions Richmond will visit the Hilltop on Saturday, Nov. 14 and then the Hoyas close out the season on Saturday, Nov. 21, hosting Fordham.
