Washington, D.C. - Six former Georgetown University track & field athletes competed at the 2009 USA Indoor Track & Field Championships from February 28-March 1 at The Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center at Roxbury Community College in Boston, Mass. Each of the six athletes placed in the top 10 of their respective events. Overall, the representation of the former Blue & Gray was evident at the championship.
Liam Boylan-Pett, Matt Debole (five-time All-American, BIG EAST Champion) and Chris Lukezic (five-time All-American, BIG EAST Champion, IC4A champion) came in fourth (3:46.46), fifth (3:47.43) and sixth (3:47.51), respectively, in the men's 1500m run. With three men in the top six, the Georgetown track tradition of strength in the middle distance/distance was definitely illustrated.
After qualifying in the preliminary heat, Treniere Clement placed second in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:04.32. While on the Hilltop, Clement was a seven-time All-American, BIG EAST Champion, three-time USA 1500m champion, ECAC champion, and a school record holder (distance medley relay indoor, 800m outdoor, 1500m outdoor, 1500m relay carry outdoor, mile relay carry outdoor). Former Hoya Elizabeth Maloy (four-time All-American, BIG EAST Champion, and ECAC Champion) placed eighth in the women's 3000m run.
Former Hoya Susan Hendrick placed seventh in the women's 1500m run.
