WASHINGTON - The Georgetown men's golf team hosts its only tournament of the season starting on Monday, Oct. 18, competing in the 26th Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate at The Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md.
Georgetown will play host to 11 teams, including Campbell, DePaul, Detroit-Mercy, Eastern Michigan, Maryland, Miami (Ohio) University, UNC-Greensboro, Richmond, Saint Joseph's, William & Mary and Xavier,
Play will start with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 18 with 36 holes. Play will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday, Oct. 20. The 54-hole tournament will be held at the Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md. The course is 7,100 yards, and par-72.
UNC-Greensboro won last year's tournament, coming back from an 11-shot deficit and finishing with an 18-over par 586, three strokes ahead of Washington State. UNC-Greensboro had four players finish in the top-20 en route to the win.
The Hoyas have enjoyed a strong fall season with three top-five finishes in four events. The team is coming off a fifth place finish among 11 teams at the Richmond Intercollegiate. GU posted a 10-under par 278 in the second round, one of the team's best rounds under Head Coach Tommy Hunter.
The lineup for the Georgetown Intercollegiate will be the same as it has been for the first four tournaments of the fall, with senior co-captains Brandon Ellis (Westerville, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales) and Danny Hathway (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep), juniors Brian Dorfman (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) and Taylor Hall (Roswell, Ga./Blessed Trinity) and sophomore transfer Curtis Loop (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan/California).
The team's lineup has been consistent, with all five players posting averages within two strokes of the leader. Loop, who finished in second place at the Renaissance Invitational two weeks ago, leads the team with a 71.91 stroke average. Hall and Ellis are tied for second on the team with a 74.36 stroke average, Dorfman is fourth with a 74.60 average and Hathway is fifth with a 76.55 stroke average.
