WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Head Football Coach Kevin Kelly has announced that 34 student-athletes will join the Hoya program this fall for the 2010 season. The newcomers come from 15 different states, including five from New Jersey, four from Texas and Florida, three from California, Maryland and Ohio, and two apiece from Georgia, Illinois and Pennsylvania.
"This is the largest class we've brought in since I've been here and we're excited about the potential of this group," Kelly said. "Our coaching staff worked very hard in the off-season and we think the hard work will pay dividends with this strong group of student-athletes."
The biographies on the members of the Class of 2014 include a long laundry list of all-state, all-conference and all-academic honors.
"We're very pleased with the makeup of this class, from a positional standpoint and from a pure football perspective," Kelly said. "Combined with the off-season efforts of our returning players and the hard work the team has put in, along with this group of newcomers, we're confident that these young men will be able to help us."
Georgetown opens the 2010 season on Saturday, September 4, visiting Davidson. The Hoyas' home opener will be on Saturday, September 25, hosting Patriot League rival Holy Cross.
