WASHINGTON - Georgetown Adds Doug Goodwin as Defensive LiGeorgetown University Head Football Coach Kevin Kelly announced today that Douglas Goodwin will join the Hoyas as the team's defensive line coach. Goodwin comes to the Hilltop after spending one year at Hofstra.
A former college standout at Boston College who had stints in the NFL, with NFL Europe and in the Arena Football League, Goodwin spent the 2009 season with Hofstra as the team posted a 5-6 record during its final season of football.
Goodwin joined the Pride after spending two years on staff at Boston College. Goodwin spent nearly two and a half years as a video graduate assistant at Boston College and was responsible for managing in-house and online video and analysis for offensive and defensive personnel. He also coordinated the recruiting travel itineraries for coaches, and planned player activities and team functions during home games and road trips. Goodwin also was involved in strategic game-planning and the recruitment of prospective student-athletes.
A four-year starter at Boston College on defense, Goodwin was an All-BIG EAST second team selection in 2004 and was a member of four bowl-winning teams during his tenure. Following his senior season, he was chosen to play in the East-West Shrine Game and the Hula Bowl. He then received an invitation to the Baltimore Ravens training camp and played in three preseason games in 2004.
In 2005 he participated in the training camp of the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe, before a playing stint with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers of Arena II Football League. In 2005, Goodwin was in training camp with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League and then was on the practice squad of the Arizona Rattlers (Arena I Football League) from 2005 to 2006 before going back to Boston College.
Goodwin holds a bachelor's in psychology from Boston College and then graduated summa cum laude with a master's in administrative studies in August 2008.
