WASHINGTON - Sophomore transfer Curtis Loop (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan/California carded a 1-over par 142 and tied for fourth place as the Georgetown University men's golf team posted a 51-over par 891 and finished in 10th place at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic that was held at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
The Hoyas finished 38 shots back from the University of Iowa, who won the tournament with a 13-over par 853. Tournament host Notre Dame posted a 19-over par 859 and placed second. The University of San Francisco placed third at 20-over par 866. Lamar and the University of Houston finished in a tie for fourth place both posting 31-over par 871 scores respectively.
Curtis Loop capped off the tournament with his best round, carding a 1-under par 69. In the first two rounds, Loop posted scored of 2-over par 72 and even-par 70 respectively. Junior Brian Dorfman (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) shot a 16-over par 226 to tie for 52nd place overall, shooting consecutive 4-over 74 par rounds.
Senior co-captain Brandon Ellis (Westerville, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales) tied for 55th place (17-over par 227) and posted a strong final round score at 1-over par 71. Taylor Hall (Roswell, Ga./Blessed Trinity) shot a 20-over par 230 over his three rounds in South Bend and tied for 65th place. Senior co-captain Danny Hathway (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) tied for 76th place after posting a 27-over par 237.
The Hoyas return to action this coming Wednesday, October 3 at the Renaissance Invitational in Fort Meyers, Fla.
