AKRON, Ohio - The Georgetown University men's golf team finished competition at The Firestone Invitational hosted by Akron University at the Firestone County Club North Course on Tuesday morning, carding a team 32-over par 896 over three round. The Hoyas finished 14th overall in a field that included five of the nation's top-100 teams.

The Hoyas with its lineup of Greg Podufal, Charlie vonArentschildt, Andrew Rudy, Ed McCrossen and Raleigh Chapin shot consistently through three rounds, finishing with a team 299 in the first and third rounds and a 298 in the second round.

Podufal, the Hoyas individual leader, finished tied for 24th overall, shooting a four-over par, 220 through three rounds, after shooting an even-par, 72 in the second round. Charlie vonArentschildt finished tied for 47th place shooting a two-over par, 74 in the final round to give him a nine-over par, 225 through three rounds in Akron. Rudy was three strokes behind, finishing tied for 61st overall with a 12-over par, 228.

McCrossen had a personal tournament best three-over par, 75 in the third round to help him finish tied for 66th at 13-over par, 229. Chapin rounded out the Hoyas competitors, finishing tied for 77th, turning in a 19-over par, 235 over three rounds, highlighted by a two-over par, 74 in the second round.

South Carolina-Aiken won the tournament, finishing with a seven-over par, 871, as Washington State (nine-over par 873) and Eastern Michigan (11-over par, 875) rounded out the top three. EMU's Stuart Grehan earned the individual title shooting nine-under, 207 through three rounds, followed by Akron's Carr Vernon (six-under par, 210) and a three-way tie for third place.

The Hoyas return to action on Monday, October 21 when they host The Georgetown Intercollegiate at The Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md.
