Dustin Wharton Named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week

WASHINGTON - WASHINGTON - Senior linebacker Dustin Wharton (LaVale, Md./Allegany) was named the Patriot League's Defensive Player of the Week after recording 12 tackles, one sack and his first career interception in the Hoyas season-opening loss to Wagner on Saturday.

Wharton, the Preseason Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, turned in a strong week one performance with 12 tackles, the 11th double-digit tackle performance of his career. Wharton also added one sack, one quarterback hurry and his first career interception.

This is the first weekly honor Wharton has received during his career on the Hilltop. This is the 11th time a Georgetown player has earned PL Defensive Player of the Week since 2010.

Georgetown hosts Davidson for its home-opener at Multi-Sport Field on Saturday, September 7. Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tickets are still available by visiting www.wearegeorgetown.edu.
