Jim McLaughlin Awarded NFF Scholar-Athlete Honors

Oct. 10, 2014 WASHINGTON - Georgetown University football freshman wide receiver Jim McLaughlin (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) was named a 2014 National Football Foundation (NFF) High School Scholar-Athlete honoree. The award is based on McLaughlin's impressive high school career on and off the field at W.T. Woodson.

McLaughlin excelled on the gridiron, earning 2013 All-Patriot District First Team and all-region honors playing wide receiver and defensive back at Woodson. He was nominated by the National Capitol Chapter in the East Region and is one of just five recipients of the honor from across the nation.

"It's an honor and a privilege to be given the chance to represent W.T Woodson High School and Georgetown University on a national scale," McLaughlin said. "I'd also like to thank the National Football Foundation for this fantastic opportunity to be recognized among the brightest in college football."

McLaughlin will be honored during the NFF Chapter Awards Luncheon at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City on Tuesday, December 9. First bestowed in 1991, the NFF National High School Scholar-Athlete Awards have become one of the most prestigious high school honors in the country. Criteria for the award include, but are not limited to, academic achievement, athletic accolades and community involvement.
