April 12, 2015 NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. - The Georgetown University men's golf team sits fifth overall in 13-team field at the Princeton Invitational after 18 holes at the Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pa. The Hoyas shot an 18-over par 298 on Saturday.
The Hoyas are seven strokes behind overall leader Yale, who holds a four-stroke lead over the rest of the field with an 11-over par 291. Freshman Sam Madsen (Madison, WIs./Edgewood/Cardinal Gibbons (Fla.)) leads the Hoyas and is tied for fifth overall after a one-over par 71 in the first round. With one round left Madsen is three strokes behind Temple's Brandon Matthews, the overall leader.
Freshman Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) is tied for 10th overall, carding a two-over par 72. Sophomore Austin Rendell (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) is tied for 33rd overall after shooting a seven-over par 77. Senior Greg Podufal (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) and freshman Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) are tied for 40th place overall with eight-over par 78 first rounds.
The Princeton Invitational will conclude on Sunday afternoon at the Merion Golf Club East Course in Ardmore, Pa.
