Kimpela, Kiselick, Liddy and Satchell Named 2015 Football Captains

Aug. 27, 2015

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Football Head Coach Rob Sgarlata announced the team's four 2015 captains following practice on Sunday afternoon at Multi-Sport Field. Seniors Jo'el Kimpela (Kinshasa, D.R. Congo/Euless Trinity), Hunter Kiselick (Nutley, N.J./Bergen Catholic), Kevin Liddy (Garden City, N.J./Kellenberg Memorial) and Matthew Satchell (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) were selected captains following a vote by their teammates.

"All four players have developed over the last four years, not just on the field, but in the classroom and what they do in the Georgetown community," Sgarlata said. "Kevin Liddy and Jo'el Kimpela on the offensive side have both been leaders, Hunter Kiselick is our emotional leader for the entire team and the development of Matt Satchell from his freshman year into the senior leader he has become is incredible."

Kimpela, a running back, has already been selected as the 12th Hoya to wear the prestigious Joe Eacobacci No. 35 Memorial Jersey. A Second Team All-Patriot League honoree, Kimpela has been a fixture in the backfield since arriving on campus in 2012. Last season Kimpela rushed for 838 yards (5.3 yards/carry), the fourth best total in the PL, and three touchdowns.

"It's an honor and a privilege to be named captain," Kimpela said. "Leadership is not just words, but examples and actions and I think we have a really good group of guys to lead this team as best as we can."

Kiselick, a defensive end, has been a staple in Georgetown's defensive front seven since his freshman season. He posted a career-high 29 tackles last season, with 5.0 tackles for loss (TFL) and 3.0 sacks, while splitting time between defensive end and linebacker.

"It's an amazing honor and I'm incredibly grateful to be chosen," Kiselick said. "It's a great group of guys to be a part of and a great senior class to be chosen from. For me it just means I have to continue to lead on and off the field and set a good example."

Liddy, an offensive lineman, started all 11 games last season and has played in 18 during the last two seasons. With the offense losing three senior starters from last season, Liddy has stepped into a leadership role to help the young unit adjust to college football.

"This is truly an honor to be chosen by your peers," Liddy said. "There are a lot of leaders, so to be chosen from them is humbling, but we just need to keep working and keep striving and this honor will help hold us accountable for the entire team."

Satchell, a linebacker, had a breakout season in 2014, finishing among the Patriot League leaders with 92 tackles and 6.0 TFL. He has played in 28 games through his three seasons on the Hilltop, compiling 115 career tackles.

"I want to thank all of my teammates for the honor of being named a captain," Satchell said. "It's great recognition for not just myself but for all of us and now it's time to keep working and preparing for an exciting 2015 season."

The Hoyas open their 2015 season on the road in Loretto, Pa. when they take on St. Francis (Pa.) on Saturday, September 5. The opening kickoff between Georgetown and St. Francis is scheduled for noon.
