Aug. 4, 2015

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior cornerback Ettian Scott (Okinawa, Japan/Northside (N.C.)) was selected to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team when the preseason honors and coaches' poll were announced on Tuesday morning during Patriot League Football Media Day at Green Pond Country Club.

Scott, a 2014 Second Team All-Patriot League selection, tied for first in the league with four interceptions last season, while finishing second with 16 passes defended (1.45/game). He started all of the Hoyas' 11 games, after starting just four games going into the 2014 season.

"Ettian is a special player who has worked extremely hard to maximize his talents and abilities. He has a tireless work ethic and is constantly trying to improve," Head Coach Rob Sgarlata said. "It is a great honor for him to be selected to the All Patriot League Preseason Team."

The PL also announced the results of its preseason coaches' poll with the Hoyas being selected seventh of seven teams with 13 points. Defending league champion Fordham sits atop the poll, receiving 66 points and 10 first place votes. Bucknell finished second with 63 points and four first place votes, with Colgate (48), Lafayette (44), Lehigh (31) and Holy Cross (29) selected in front of the Hoyas.

Georgetown finished 3-8 overall and 1-5 in the Patriot League last season, but returns seven starters on offense, including Second Team All-Patriot League running back Jo'el Kimpela (Kinshasa, D.R. Congo/Euless Trinity), who finished fourth in the league with 838 rushing yards. His 5.3 yards per carry was tied for second in the league. GU also returns senior quarterback Kyle Nolan (Branford, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall), who finished fourth in the league, averaging 160.3 passing yards per game. Senior linebacker Matthew Satchell (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) is second in tackles (92) among returning players.

The Hoyas open their 2015 campaign on the road in Loretto, Pa. when they take on Northeastern Conference foe St. Francis (Pa.). The opening kickoff on Saturday, September 5, is scheduled for noon.
