WASHINGTON - After holding the Patriot League's top offense well below its season average of total yardage and points per game, the Georgetown University football team saw two members of its defensive squad earn Patriot League Honorable Mention selections. Freshman defensive lineman Khristian Tate (Warner Robins, Ga./Covenant Academy) and sophomore defensive back Ramon Lyons (Orlando, Fla./Ocoee/West Orange) were both recognized for their efforts in Saturday's tough 17-14 loss at Fordham University.

Tate finished with seven tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss, 0.5 sacks and one blocked punt. He broke through the line to block his second punt of the season in the second quarter, leading to Georgetown's game-tying touchdown a few plays later. Tate also broke into the backfield to make a tackle on a fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line to keep the game tied early in the fourth quarter.

Lyons set a new career high on Saturday, recording a game-high nine tackles with seven solo takedowns. He had 3.0 TFL for eight yards.

The Georgetown defense was stout all afternoon, holding Fordham, which was averaging a Patriot League-best 545 yards per game, to 285 total yards. The Rams, who also came in averaging a league-high 45 points per game, were held to their lowest total against an FCS opponent this season. Additionally, Fordham's Chase Edwards, who entered the game leading the nation in rushing touchdowns, was kept out of the end zone.

This was the first-career honorable mention selection for both Tate and Lyons. Overall, the Hoyas have had nine players named honorable mention this season.

Georgetown will remain on the road for a matchup at Lafayette on Saturday, Oct. 29. Kickoff at Fisher Stadium is set for 12:30 p.m.
