April 8, 2016 WASHINGTON -
With the BIG EAST Championship only a few weeks a way, the Georgetown University men's and women's tennis teams continue its spring lineup with matches against Bryant University and George Washington University this weekend.
The GU men's team will set off when they host the Bryant Bulldogs in a noon matchup on Saturday, April 9 at the Georgetown Visitation Courts, while the women conclude the weekend with a 2 p.m. match against Georgetown Washington on Sunday, April 10 at the GW Tennis Center.
The Georgetown men's team (6-8, 1-1 BIG EAST) is looking to bounce back from 5-1 loss against Richmond earlier this week. Freshman Michael Chen (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel High School) led GU's effort as he pushed his match against Richmond's Caleb Troy into three sets to win at the No. 4 spot, 7-6, 6-7, 11-9.
The Bryant Bulldogs (6-9, 1-0 NEC) are seeking to snap a four-game losing streak with losses against Brown, Yale and Harvard.
On the women's side, Georgetown has won seven of its last eight matches, with the only loss coming against. Overall, the Hoyas are 9-4 and 6-2 on the road. Victoire Saperstein (Las Vegas, Nev./Odyssey Charter School) leads Georgetown with a 10-2 spring singles record, all at the top position, and has won her last five consecutive decisions. Casey Marx's 9-3 solo record in dual match play between the Nos. 5-6 positions ranks second on the squad. The Colonials (5-10, 1-3 A-10) have won their last two home contests at the GW Tennis Center.
