Sam Hall Day 1 Results

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's golf team is tied for eighth overall after the first day of play at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate, hosted by Southern Mississippi at Hattiesburg Country Club. The Hoyas sit at 11-over par 579 at the end of two rounds.

As a team the Hoyas carded a first round score of 9-over 293 overall. Then battled through an hour and 10 minute lightning delay to shoot a 2- over 286 to end the day.

Louisiana Monroe is the overall leader at 11-under par at 557. Host Southern Mississippi at 3- over 565 and Western Kentucky at 1- under 567 join Louisiana Monroe shooting under par on the day. Rice 1- over 569 and Louisiana at 2- over 570 round out the top five. The individual leader after 36 holes is Andoni Etchenique of Louisiana Monroe at 9-under par 133 on the day.

Junior Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood [Cardinal Gibbons]) led the way with a 1-under 70 in round one and a 1-over 72 in the second round. He is tied for 13th overall at even par 142. Right behind Madsen junior Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) is sitting at 143 tied for 17th overall at 1-over.

Freshman Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla./Spanish River Community) is tied for 52nd after shooting 6- over 148 after two rounds, while sophomore Anthony Perrino (Concord, N.C./The Canon School) is right behind him at in a tie for 58th at 7-over 149 on the day. Junior Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) rounds out the scoring with 3-over par 74 in round one and finished in a tie for 68th after round two at 9-over 151.

The third and final round of action at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate is scheduled to begin at 8:30 am on Tuesday morning at Hattiesburg Country Club
