Georgetown Starts Play in Princeton Invitational on Saturday

Sept. 30, 2016

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's golf team will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 1, competing in the Princeton Invitational, being hosted by Princeton University at Springdale Golf Club in New Jersey.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament tees off on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. and concludes on Sunday, Oct. 2. Teams will play 36 holes on Saturday and finish with 18 on Sunday.

In addition to Georgetown, the 11-team field includes Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Delaware, Harvard, Lehigh, Penn, Princeton, Rollins and Yale.

The Georgetown lineup will be led by sophomore Pendleton Bogache (Myrtle Beach, S.C./Episcopal [Va.]), who was the team's top finisher at the Lady Paladin Invitational last weekend. Bogache, playing as a part of the scoring lineup for the first time this season, tied for 40th place in the field of 111 golfers at 6-over par 222, including a final round score of 2-over par 74.

The remainder of the Georgetown lineup includes sophomore Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J./Kent Place), freshman Ashley Fitzgibbons (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake Senior), junior Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School) and sophomore Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla./St. Andrew's).

Eleey won last year's Princeton Invitational individual title, carding a 5-over par 149 in a rain-shortened 36-hole event. The Hoyas finished in sixth place.
