WASHINGTON - Georgetown University sophomore quarterback Gunther Johnson (Anthem, Ariz./Boulder Creek/Arizona) has been named to Patriot League Honorable Mention, recognizing his efforts in Georgetown's game at Lehigh this past Saturday.
Johnson, who saw the majority of snaps at quarterback, finished 18-of-33 passing for 290 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He was also GU's leading rusher, running for 71 yards and three more scores on 13 carries. His 290 passing yards were a season high for the Blue & Gray and his three rushing touchdowns were the most in a game by a Hoya since Nick Campanella ('13) rushed for three against Davidson on Sept. 1, 2012. Johnson orchestrated an offense that did not commit a turnover for the first time this season, and has now scored at least 30 points in back-to-back games for the first time since 2003.
This is Johnson's first career weekly honor from the Patriot League, and the fourth of the season for the Blue & Gray.
The Hoyas (1-5, 0-1 Patriot League) will return home to Cooper Field to host Fordham University over Georgetown's Family Weekend. Kickoff on Saturday, Oct. 21 is scheduled for 2 p.m. The contest will also be GU's Friends of Jaclyn game.
