Game Notes | | Watch

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University football team returns to Cooper Field on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Fordham University in a Patriot League contest. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Live stats and a link to the live broadcast on the Patriot League Network will be available at www.GUHoyas.com. The pregame show, which will begin at 1:50 p.m., will simultaneously be aired on the Georgetown Football Facebook page. Jeremy Huber will provide the play-by-play while Emory Hunt and Mike Nebrich give color analysis.

The Georgetown Athletics Department will host a pregame fan fest outside of Cooper Field. Among the vendors will be Paradise Ice Cream as well as a food truck from Millie's. Nissan will also have an interactive display.

Friends of Jaclyn
Saturday will also serve as Georgetown's annual Friends of Jaclyn (FOJ) Foundation game. The Hoyas will be joined by their three FOJ teammates - Elijah Davis, Jackson Dundon and Willie Hughes. The trio will serve as Georgetown's honorary captains, partaking in the pregame coin toss as well as watching the game on the sidelines.

Last Time Out
The Blue & Gray dropped its Patriot League opener, 54-35, at Lehigh. Sophomore quarterback Gunther Johnson (Anthem, Ariz./Boulder Creek/Arizona) was named Patriot League Honorable Mention after accounting for all five touchdowns, passing for two and rushing for three more. He passed for 290 yards and two touchdowns, both to Michael Dereus (Hyde Park, Mass./Williston Horthampton), and was GU's leading rusher with 71 yards and three touchdowns. David Akere (Carrollton, Texas/Hebron) led the defense with 10 tackles, while Blaise Brown (New Orleans, La./St. Augustine/Loomis Chaffee) added nine.

About the Matchup
Georgetown is 22-38-3 all-time against Fordham and just 2-14 against the Rams since the Hoyas joined the Patriot League in 2001. Fordham has won each of the past five meetings and GU's last win came in 2011, a 30-13 victory on the Hilltop. Last season, Georgetown's defense forced four turnovers and held Fordham to half its average total offense, but the Rams kicked a game-winning field goal in the fourth quarter for the 17-14 win.

Saturday will be Georgetown's second Patriot League contest of the season. In the past five years, the Hoyas are 6-23 in league play.

Scouting Fordham
The Rams enter Saturday's contest with a 1-6 overall record and a 0-2 mark in Patriot League play. They are in the midst of a five-game losing streak, including losses to Lafayette and Colgate each of the past two weeks. Although Fordham has allowed a league-high 28 sacks this season, Kevin Anderson has thrown for nearly 1,500 yards and 11 touchdowns while completing 60 percent of his passes. Corey Caddle and Jonathan Lumley are averaging more than 60 receiving yards per game and Caddle and Andrew Prince both have caught four touchdowns. Chase Edmonds, who needs just eight yards to break the Patriot League career rushing record, leads Fordham's rushing attack with 65.8 yards per game. He is currently the FCS active leader in six different career categories, including rushing yards (5,614), rushing yards per game (133.7), all-purpose yards (7,075), all-purpose yards per game (168.45) and points per game (10.0).

Defensively, Glenn Cunningham leads the way with 57 total tackles, while Antonio Jackson is second in the Patriot League with three interceptions and Dylan Mabin is among the league leaders with 16 pass breakups.

Looking Ahead
The Hoyas will head back out on the road next weekend, traveling to Worcester, Mass., for a matchup against Holy Cross on Saturday, Oct. 28. Kickoff at Fitton Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.
