BIG EAST Announces Seeding for Tennis Championship

April 24, 2017

WASHINGTON - The BIG EAST Conference announced the seedings for the 2017 Men's and Women's BIG EAST Tennis Championships to be held April 27-30 in Cayce, S.C., at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center. The Hoya women earned the No. 3 seed in the championship, while the men are the No. 7 seed.

The men will open the tournament on Friday at 9 a.m. against the second-seeded St. John's Red Storm. The teams met earlier this season with the Red Storm coming away with the 4-0 victory.

The Hoyas finished the regular season with a mark of 7-13 overall and 0-3 in BIG EAST Conference matches.

The women's will begin play on Friday at 4 p.m. against sixth-seeded Seton Hall University. The squads did not meet this season, but Georgetown won, 7-0, last year against the Pirates at the Georgetown Visitation courts.

The Blue & Gray went 12-5 overall during the regular season and posted a mark of 1-2 in BIG EAST matches. This is the highest seed ever under Hoya Head Coach Gordie Ernst.

Tournament updates will be available on Twitter @HoyaTennis and through the BIG EAST @BIGEASTChamps. The championship will be streamed live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
