WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis squad won its first match of the season on Sunday against Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 4-3. With the win, the Hoyas improve to 1-5 on the season.
In singles, senior Drew Spinosa (Claremont, Calif./Claremont) downed her opponent, Andrea Ivanovic, 6-0, 6-4. Additionally, senior Daphne De Chattelus (Tiburon, Calif./Redwood) won against Alexandra Yeardley, 6-1, 6-3. Senior Casey Marx (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) won by forfeit.
In doubles, Spinosa and junior Cecilia Lynham (Chevy Chase, Md./Holton Arms School) defeated Isabella Lowrey and Ana Navas, 6-1. The Hoyas earned another point in doubles due to a forfeit.
The Blue & Gray will play again tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. against Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Florida.
