WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team put up more than 500 yards of total offense, but Fordham scored the winning touchdown with just 16 seconds left to play to defeat the Hoyas 30-27 on Saturday afternoon at Cooper Field. It was the first Patriot League game of the season for both teams as GU fell to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in league play, while the Rams improve to 3-4 on the season and 1-0 in the conference.

- The Hoyas outgained Fordham 525-405, including 346-214 in the passing game.
- Gunther Johnson finished 13-for-17 passing for a season-high 280 yards while also rushing for 81 yards and two touchdowns.
- Herman Moultrie III scored two rushing touchdowns on 17 carries.
- Michael Dereus caught four passes for 149 yards, including a season-long 81-yard catch on the first play from scrimmage.
- Joshua Tomas accounted for 170 all-purpose yards with 39 rushing yards and 131 receiving yards on a team-high seven catches.
- Justin Fonteneaux led the defense with a career-high 13 tackles while also recording a forced fumble and his second interception of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Johnson connected with Dereus on the first play from scrimmage for 81 yards before Moultrie scored on the next play from the 1-yard line to give the Hoyas a 6-0 lead.
- Near the end of the first quarter, Fordham drove down to tie the game with a touchdown. However, Khristian Tate blocked the PAT attempt and Cameron Deen returned it all the way for the 2-point defensive score, giving GU the lead back, 8-6.
- Fonteneaux's interception set the Hoyas up in the red zone and, two players later, Johnson scored on a 16-yard run to extend the lead to 15-6 with 13:56 left in the second quarter.
- Fordham hit a 46-yard field goal and scored a touchdown after a blocked punt to go up 16-15 at halftime.
- The Rams scored on their first possession of the third quarter to extend their lead to 23-15.
- On the ensuing drive, Johnson rushed for 50 yards and passed for 15 more, scoring on a 10-yard run to cut the deficit to 23-21.
- On GU's first drive of the fourth quarter, Moultrie scored on his second 1-yard touchdown rush of the game, giving Georgetown a 27-23 lead.
- After a drive stalled for the Hoyas, Fordham got the ball back with 1:21 left on the clock and drove 73 yards for the game-winning score.
OF NOTE
- Moultrie now has seven rushing touchdowns on the season, the most by a Hoya since Nick Campanella had seven in 2012.
- Georgetown's 525 yards of total offense was the most ever by the program against a Patriot League opponent.
- Johnson now has 13 career rushing touchdowns, tying him for ninth all-time in GU history.
- Dereus and Tomas combined to be the first Hoya receiving duo to each have 100 receiving yards since 2013 (Jake DeCicco and Zack Wilke).
