WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team held off a couple of late drives by Lafayette to defeat the Leopards 14-10 in a Patriot League game on Saturday afternoon at Cooper Field. With the win, the Hoyas move to 5-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play, while Lafayette falls to 0-7 overall and 0-1 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following Salgado's interception, Johnson extended a drive with a 21-yard run on a fourth-and-19, before finding Dereus in the end zone to give the Hoyas a 7-0 lead with 2:57 remaining in the first quarter.
- Lafayette tied the score late in the first quarter on an 86-yard run, and took a 10-7 lead with a 44-yard field goal midway through the second quarter.
- After Lafayette's score, Georgetown put together a 16-play drive, its longest of the season, to take the lead on a 1-yard touchdown pass from Johnson to Stakely with just six seconds remaining before halftime.
- Neither team scored in the second half as Wilson picked off a pass near the 20-yard line, and Lafayette missed a 25-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
OF NOTE
- Dereus surpassed 1,500 receiving yards for his career and now has 1,541 yards in his time on the Hilltop.
- Dereus' touchdown catch in the first quarter was the 12th of his career, tying him for fifth all-time in program history.
