Hoyas Get Two Goals From Cami Osborne But Fall 3-2 in Double Overtime

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University field hockey team moved to to 5-9 overall and 1-3 BIG EAST Conference play after falling short in double overtime 3-2 against Towson (2-11, 0-1 CAA) at TU's Field Hockey Complex. Led by junior forward Cami Osborne's fifth and sixth goals this season, the Hoyas were able to comeback from being down 1-0 to take a 2-1 lead. Towson picked up a late goal in the fourth to take the game into overtime. The Tigers won the game on a penalty stroke goal in double overtime. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Samantha Aljets scored for Towson at the 14:23 mark to take 1-0 lead.

  • Osborne scored on a pass from Jordan Sweeney with 4:39 remaining on the clock in the second quarter.  

  • Osborne scored her second goal on the day, unassisted with 10:08 left in the third quarter.

  • Georgia Beachley scored with 7:02 left in the fourth.

  • Beachley scored on a penalty stroke goal in 2OT.

 

OF NOTE

  • Georgetown outshot Towson 12-9.  

  • The Tigers won the penalty corner battle 6-5. 

  • Osborne leads the Hoyas in points this season.

The Hoyas will take a mid-week trip to Saint Francis (PA) on Tuesday, Oct. 15 for a nonconference showdown at 2 p.m. GU will return to Cooper Field for Senior Day on Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. for a BIG EAST matchup against Liberty.  Live stats and a live stream will be available at GUHoyas.com.
