BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Georgetown University football team tied the game with 1:23 left to play on a 72-yard catch by
Michael Dereus, but Lehigh kicked a 27-yard field goal as time expired to defeat the Hoyas 27-24 on Saturday afternoon in a Patriot League game at Goodman Stadium. With the loss, GU falls to 5-3 on the season and 1-2 in conference play, while the Mountain Hawks improve to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the Patriot League.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lehigh jumped out to a 10-0 lead with a 36-yard field goal and 32-yard touchdown run on its first two possessions.
- The GU defense only allowed 29 yards the remainder of the half, registering three sacks and recovering a fumble.
- The Hoyas used an 11-play drive, including a key fourth down conversion to cut the deficit to 10-3 on a 23-yard field goal by Brad Hurst.
- On their first possession of the second half, the Hoyas drove 77 yards on nine plays, with Saffold accounting for 27 yards on the ground. Johnson complete passes of 12 and 25 yards to Dereus, before finding Tomas for the 3-yard touchdown to bring the score to 10-9.
- On the next drive, Crayton reached over the defender to haul in a 25-yard touchdown reception to give the Hoyas a 16-10 lead.
- Lehigh scored on the second play of the fourth quarter to regain the lead, and then used a nine-minute drive to extend its lead to 24-16 with 2:55 remaining.
- On a fourth down play, Johnson found Dereus deep down the sideline for the 72-yard score. Johnson then found Joshua Stakely for a successful 2-point conversion to knot the score 24-24 with 1:23 left.
- Lehigh drove 59 yards, including a 48-yard pass play, before kicking the game-winning field goal.
OF NOTE
Dereus' 155 receiving yards gives him 1,696 for his career and jumped him up to fifth all-time in program history.
