WASHINGTON – The No. 3 Georgetown University men's soccer team led all BIG EAST Conference teams with three major awards and six total all-conference honors on Monday when the league announced its postseason awards.
 
Senior captain Dylan Nealis was the Defensive Player of the Year for the second-consecutive season, while junior Jacob Montes earned Midfielder of the Year honors.  Sophomore Giannis Nikopolidis was also named the Co-Goalkeeper of the Year.  Nealis, Montes, Nikopolidis and junior captain Derek Dodson were all named to the All-BIG EAST First Team with Montes being a unanimous selection.  The Blue & Gray led all schools with four first team honorees.  Additionally, senior captain Achara and sophomore midfielder Sean Zawadzki both earned spots on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
 
Georgetown claimed the program's sixth BIG EAST Regular Season Championship outright Wednesday afternoon and finished the regular season with a mark of 14-1-2 on the year and 7-0-2 in BIG EAST play. The top-seeded Hoyas will face fifth-seeded Butler on Wednesday at Shaw Field in the BIG EAST Semifinal matchup at 1 p.m.
 
Dylan Nealis
Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-BIG EAST

• The senior started all 17 games with two goals and four assists on the year to rank sixth on the team in scoring with eight points.
• Nealis was part of a defense that has tallied 10 shutouts including eight in a row.
• In league play, he had one goal to his credit.
• The defender was named defensive player of the week three times this season for the Blue & Gray.
• This is Nealis' second-consecutive BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year award and his second nod to the first team.

 
Jacob Montes
Offensive Player of the Year, Unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST

• Montes is second on the team in scoring with a team-high eight goals and two assists for 18 points.  His total ranks him third in goals in the league.
• He boasts a team-best four game winners to rank third in the BIG EAST.
• The junior has started all 17 games for the Blue & Gray this season.
• In league play, Montes had three goals and two assists for eight points including two game winners.  His totals rank him second in the league in goals and points and first in game winners.
• Montes was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on 9/23.
• This is Montes' first major postseason award after earning a spot on the all-freshman team in 2017.

 
Giannis Nikopolidis
Co-Goalkeeper of the Year, First Team All-BIG EAST

• Nikopolidis has been splitting time in the net so he has nine starts to his credit with 835 minutes played.
• The sophomore has a record of 7-1-1 overall and boasts four shutouts this year.
• He has 29 saves and a 0.43 goals-against average which ranks him third in the nation.
• The goalkeeper is tied for first in shutouts with three and is second in league play with a 0.24 GAA.
• Nikopolidis was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on 10/13 and earned one nod to the weekly honor roll.
• This is Nikopolidis' first major postseason award after earning a spot on the all-freshman team in 2018.

 
Derek Dodson
First Team All-BIG EAST

• Dodson leads the team in scoring with seven goals and six assists for 20 points on the campaign which ranks him third in the BIG EAST.
• He has two game winners to his credit and is 2-2 on penalty kicks.
• In league play, Dodson ad four goals and two assists for 10 points including one game winner.
• Dodson was named the offensive player of the week on 10/27 and earned one nod to the weekly honor roll.
• This is Dodson's third-consecutive All-BIG EAST honor after being named to the first team last season and to both the second team and all-freshman team in 2017.

 
Achara
Second Team All-BIG EAST

• Achara has started in all nine games he has appeared in after returning from an early-season injury.
• He has five goals and four assists for 14 points with two games winners going 1-1 on penalty kicks.
• This is good enough to lead the BIG EAST in goals per game with a 1.56 average.
• In league play, he had four goals and three assists for 11 points including one game winner.  His 0.57 goals per game rank him second in the BIG EAST.
• Achara was named the offensive player of the week on 10/13.
• This is Achara's second-career nod the All-BIG EAST squad earning a spot on the first team a season ago.

 
Sean Zawadzki
Second Team All-BIG EAST

• The midfielder has started all 15 games he appeared in with a goal against Temple to his credit for two points on the year.
• That goal proved to be the game winner.
• Zawadzki earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on 11/4.
• He was named to the all-freshman team as a rookie.
