WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team had a pair of student-athletes named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams, as announced by the organization on Thursday. Junior defensive backs
Cameron Deen and
Ahmad Wilson were each selected to the first team, which automatically advances them onto the ballot for Academic All-American, which will be announced in December.
The honor, which was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. To qualify for the all-district teams, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and be a significant contributor on their team.
CAMERON DEEN
- Deen is an international business regional studies in the McDonough School of Business.
- He is currently fourth on the GU defense with 39 tackles, including 26 solo takedowns.
- From his cornerback position, Deen also has 1.5 TFL and 0.5 sacks.
- A leader on one of the nation's best pass defenses, Deen had an interception in GU's season opener has another pass breakup.
AHMAD WILSON
- This is Wilson's second selection to the Academic All-District Team as he also earned the honor last year as a sophomore.
- He is a finance major in the McDonough School of Business.
- Wilson ranks third on the team with 47 total tackles as a safety and also has 2.0 TFL for 21 yards.
- Wilson has one of Georgetown's Patriot League-leading 11 interceptions and also has three pass breakups and a forced fumble.
COMING UP NEXT
The Hoyas will be back in action on Saturday following their second bye week of the season. The Blue & Gray will travel to Bucknell for a 1 p.m. kickoff in a game that will be broadcast on the Patriot League Network.
