Gunther Johnson and junior defensive back
Ahmad Wilson were both named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team on Wednesday. It was the second selection for both student-athletes as they each also earned nods to the academic team in 2018.
The 14-member all-academic team was selected by a vote of the league's sports information directors who could not cast a vote for their own student-athletes. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.20 cumulative grade point average, must have at least sophomore standing at his institution and must have played in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
GUNTHER JOHNSON
- Johnson is a government major in the College and was a 2019 team captain.
- He played in all 11 games as a senior, completing 124-of-208 passes for a 59.6 completion percentage and 1,550 yards.
- His 12 touchdown passes are tied for the 10th most in Georgetown history.
- Johnson graduates from the Hilltop among GU's career leaders in rushing touchdowns (14; 9th), total yards (4,961; 3rd), pass attempts (698; 3rd), completions (371; 3rd), passing yards (4,272; 5th) and passing touchdowns (24; 7th).
AHMAD WILSON
- Wilson is a finance major in the McDonough School of Business and was named to the All-Patriot League First Team on Tuesday, his third postseason nod after being named to the second team in 2018 and the first team in 2017.
- He ranked second on the team with 62 tackles as a safety while also finishing with 3.0 TFL and a forced fumble.
- Wilson had one of GU's 12 interceptions on the season and added four pass breakups.
- He had a career-high 12 tackles against Colgate, earning Patriot League Honorable Mention honors.
2019 RECAP
Georgetown wrapped up the 2019 season with a 5-6 overall record, and a 1-5 mark in the Patriot League.
