LOS ANGELES – The Georgetown University women's basketball team fell 82-69 to the Fresno State Bulldogs Saturday afternoon at the LMU Thanksgiving Classic at Gersten Pavilion. A tough second half dropped the Hoyas to 2-5 on the season while Fresno State improves to 5-3 on the year.
How it Happened
- The Hoyas gained a small lead early and at the 5:51 mark, a layup from senior Anita Kelava sparked a 6-0 run to make it 15-7.
- Fresno State would answer right back as the Blue & Gray clung to a slight advantage and the 20-19 lead at the end of the first.
- GU opened the second quarter with a 3-pointer by graduate student Taylor Barnes and a jumper by graduate student Brianna Jones made it a five-point game.
- The Bulldogs came back with a 7-0 run to move ahead, but the Blue & Gray staged a 7-0 run of its own sparked by layup from junior Tatiana Thompson and capped off by a three-point play from Barnes.
- The squads would continue to battle as GU went into the break trailing 36-35.
- The Bulldogs began the third quarter with back-to-back 3-pointers and managed to build the lead to as much as 13. Late in the third, a 6-0 run brought it back to a seven-point deficit 59-52 but the momentum would not swing back to the Blue & Gray.
- The Hoyas would never be able to recover from the third quarter run and were unable to mount a comeback eventually falling 82-69.

- Jones led the Blue & Gray with 19 points as the lone Hoya in double figures.
- Kelava pulled down a team-high eight rebounds to go along with six points and three blocks.
- Senior Marvellous Osagie-Erese scored four points and led the Blue & Gray with three steals to her credit.
- Georgetown outrebounded Fresno State 33-28, and forced 10 Bulldog turnovers on six steals
- GU committed 16 turnovers in the game.
- The Hoyas shot a season-high 45 percent (27-60) from the field but allowed Fresno State 53 percent (31-58) shooting in the game.
- Jones was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts over two games averaging 17.5 ppg and 4.5 rpg.

The Hoyas will stay on the road next weekend as the squad travels to New York City for a pair of games. GU will face Columbia on Friday at 11 a.m., before battling Fordham on Sunday in a 2 p.m. matchup.
