Baseball Names 2020 Team Captains

WASHINGTON – Head Coach Pete Wilk and the Georgetown University baseball team have announced the three captains for the upcoming 2020 season. Seniors Noah Abdalla, Freddy Achecar III and AJ Lotsis were selected by a team vote and will lead the Hoyas this spring.
 
Noah Abdalla
  • Abdalla has missed the past two seasons due to injury after appearing in 18 games as a freshman in 2017.
  • He finished with five saves and 18 strikeouts over 20.2 innings pitched out of the bullpen.
  • He had five games with multiple strikeouts, including a career-high five at Navy on Feb. 28.
 
Freddy Achecar III
  • Achecar also served as a team captain as a junior in 2019.
  • He appeared in 54 games last season with 45 starts, finishing with a .250 (42-for-168) batting average.
  • He ranked fourth on the team with eight doubles and fifth with 18 RBIs while also adding two home runs and a triple.
 
AJ Lotsis
  • Lotsis appeared in 35 games as a junior, making 14 starts in the outfield as well as at designated hitter.
  • He finished the season with a .242 (15-for-62) batting average with four home runs, four doubles and eight RBIs.
  • He went 3-for-4 with a double and home run against Creighton on May 4, his second-straight game with a home run.
 
COMING UP NEXT
Georgetown is coming off of a 2019 season that saw it finish with a record of 22-34. The Hoyas went 7-11 in BIG EAST play, finishing in fifth place, one game out from a postseason berth.
