WASHINGTON – Three members of the No. 2 Georgetown University men's soccer team earned United Soccer Coaches All-America honors on Thursday. Named to the first team was senior captain
Dylan Nealis, while junior captain
Derek Dodson and classmate
Jacob Montes both earned selections to the third team. This marks the first time in program history that the Hoyas have boasted three All-Americans in one season.
Dylan Nealis
- A MAC Hermann Trophy finalist as announced earlier in the day.
- Named First Team All-East Region.
- BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-BIG EAST.
- The senior has started all 22 games with four goals and five assists so far on the year to rank fourth on the team in scoring with 13 points.
- Nealis is part of a defense that has tallied 12 shutouts so far.
- Earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament team and was the Most Outstanding Defensive Player.
- The defender was named defensive player of the week three times this season for the Blue & Gray.
- This is his first All-America honor.
Derek Dodson
- A First Team All-East Region selection.
- A First Team All-BIG EAST honoree.
- Dodson leads the team in scoring with 10 goals and eight assists for 28 points on the campaign.
- He has three game winners to his credit and is 2-3 on penalty kicks.
- Earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
- Dodson was named the offensive player of the week on 10/27 and earned one nod to the weekly honor roll.
- This is his first All-America award.
Jacob Montes
- Named First Team All-East Region.
- BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and Unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST.
- Montes is second on the team in scoring with a team-high 11 goals and five assists for 27 points.
- He boasts a team-best four game winners.
- The junior has started all 22 games for the Blue & Gray this season.
- Montes was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on 9/23.
- This was his first all-region honor and the first nod to the All-America squad.
Third-seeded Georgetown has advanced to the 2019 College Cup and will face seventh-seeded Stanford on Friday evening in Cary, North Carolina at Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU. Tickets can be purchased through GUHoyas.com.
