Hoyas Conclude Road Trip at SMU Saturday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball wraps up its two-game road trip with a matchup at Southern Methodist University on Saturday night. Tipoff in Dallas, Texas is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET at SMU's Moody Coliseum.

  • Saturday's game will be broadcast live on ESPNU with Ted Emrich calling the play-by-play and Bryce Drew providing analysis.
  • The game can be heard locally on The Team 980 radio station with Rich Chvotkin in his 46th season on the call.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Mac McClung scored a season-high 33 points as the Georgetown University men's basketball team came away with a 81-74 road victory over RV/25 Oklahoma State on Wednesday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
  • The game was part of the inaugural BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle.
  • McClung led all players with 33 points on 12-of-21 shooting, including a 4-for-8 performance from beyond the arc.
  • Omer Yurtseven finished with 19 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
  • Terrell Allen scored a season-high 15 points and paced the offense with five assists.
  • Georgetown shot 45.3 (29-64) percent from the floor and hit a season-best nine 3-pointers, while outrebounding the Cowboys 43-29.
  • The Hoyas went a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line, including 5-for-5 performances by both Allen and McClung.
 
SCOUTING SMU
  • SMU enters Saturday's contest with an 8-0 record and is averaging 74.9 ppg while allowing just 59.6 ppg.
  • The Mustangs are led by Isiaha Mike who is scoring 15.9 ppg, and Kendric Davis has averaged 15.8 ppg and 7.5 apg after missing the first four games.
  • Tyson Jolly (14.4 ppg) and Feron Hunt (13.3 ppg) round out those in double figures while Hunt pulls down a team-high 8.4 rpg.
 
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Saturday will be just the third meeting between the two teams, with the programs having split the first two matchups.
  • Georgetown and SMU first met in the 1984 NCAA Tournament Second Round, which the Hoyas won 37-36 on their way to winning the National Championship.
  • SMU defeated Georgetown last year 81-73 at Capital One Arena. Jessie Govan led the Hoyas with 17 points while Mac McClung had 13 points.
  • Georgetown is 84-65 all-time against the current members of the American Athletic Conference and Head Coach Patrick Ewing is 0-1 against the conference with last year's loss to the Mustangs.
 
COMING UP NEXT
The Hoyas will return home to Capital One Arena to close out nonconference play with a four-game homestand. The Blue & Gray will host former BIG EAST rival Syracuse on Saturday, Dec. 14. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on FOX. Fans can listen locally on The Team 980 with Rich Chvotkin on the call.
