NEW YORK – The Georgetown University women's basketball team lost 67-54 to the Fordham Rams Sunday afternoon at he Rose Hill Gymnasium. The game ended a five-game road swing that included games on both coasts. With the loss, Georgetown falls to 2-7 on the season while Fordham improved to 5-5 on the year.
How it Happened
- Graduate student Brianna Jones opened the game with a quick two points and the Blue & Gray was moving the ball well early on.
- Fordham regained the lead with a 3-pointer before a three-minute drought for both squads.
- It was the Rams who continued the run until a jumper from junior Tatiana Thompson made it 12-6 at the 2:37 mark.
- The Hoyas pulled within two 13-11 on a trey from graduate student Taylor Barnes, but ended the first quarter trailing 18-11.
- It was Jones who began the scoring again in the second stanza, but Fordham would begin to pull away with four 3-pointers in the quarter.
- Trailing by 15 near the end of the second, sophomore Tayanna Jones hit a trey and Barnes added a layup. Two late free throws made it 37-25 at the break.
- The Blue & Gray struggled to score in the third allowing Fordham to pull away.
- From that point on, the Rams maintained a comfortable lead and, despite a surge in the final two minutes, Georgetown could not find the answer eventually falling 67-54.

- Barnes led the Blue & Gray with 13 points as well as pulling down six rebounds.
- Brianna Jones had 11 points and a squad-best seven boards, while Thompson rounded out those in double figures with 10 points on the day.
- Georgetown was outrebounded 36-30, and forced 13 Ram turnovers on five steals
- The Hoyas shot 33.9 percent (21-62) from the field and allowed Fordham 40.4 percent (23-57) shooting in the game.
