WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football program had 24 student-athletes named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll when the league office announced the list on Friday. Overall, the Patriot League's seven football programs combined to placed 215 student-athletes earned academic honors. To be eligible for the Fall Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 GPA in the fall semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports.
Fifth-year senior offensive lineman
Dominic Scarangella (Newtown, Conn. / Newtown) earned the distinction of being selected to the academic honor in all five years on the Hilltop. The English major, who graduated from the College in December, made 27 starts in his career.
Juniors
Ryan White-Boyd (Wilton Manors, Fla. / South Plantation) and
Zacciah Saltzman (Athens, Ohio / Athens) both were selected for the third time in their careers. Junior
Gunther Johnson (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek / Arizona) and sophomore
Ahmad Wilson (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Gateway), who were named to the 15-member Academic All-Patriot League Team in November, each earned their second career nod to the academic honor roll. Wilson was also named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Football Team.
Overall, 11 Hoyas were selected to the academic honor roll for the second time while 10 earned the nod for the first time in their careers.
The Hoyas finished the 2018 season with a 5-6 overall record and tied for second in the Patriot League with 4-2 mark. The four wins in league play are the most by a GU program since joining the conference in 2001. The five wins are the most since 2012.
