WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team (15-9, 5-6 BIG EAST) travels to Newark, New Jersey for its first matchup against Seton Hall (14-9, 5-6 BIG EAST) on Wednesday evening at the Prudential Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. and a link to live stats is available at GUHoyas.com.
The game can be seen live on FS1 with Brian Custer calling the play-by-play and Sarah Kustok serving as the color analyst. The game can be heard locally on The Team 980 radio station and SiriusXM channel 387/978 with Rich Chvotkin in his 45th season on the call.
The Hoyas are coming off a hard-fought 73-69 loss against Butler on Saturday.
Mac McClung (Gate City, Va. / Gate City) led a trio in double figures with 21 points hitting 7 of 19 from the field including a perfect 5-for-5 effort from the charity stripe.
Jamorko Pickett (Washington, D.C. / Massanutten Military Academy [Va.]) followed up with 18 points, including a trio of triples, while
Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y. / Wings Academy) added 12 to go along with a team-best nine rebounds.
James Akinjo (Oakland, Calif. / Salesian College Preparatory) and
Jagan Mosely (Marlboro, N.J. / St. Anthony) dished out a squad-best three assists apiece.
McClung was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the second time this season. He opened the week with 13 points, six rebounds and five assists in a win at Providence, GU's first victory in the Dunkin' Donuts Center since 2012. He then added a game-high 21 points to go with four rebounds and two assists in a loss to Butler to close out the week.
Govan leads three Hoyas in double figures with 18.3 points per game while averaging 7.8 rebounds per game, ranking fifth and third in the BIG EAST, respectively. McClung follows up with 13.6 ppg and Akinjo falls close behind averaging 13.4 ppg.
Josh LeBlanc (Baton Rouge, LA. / Madison Prep Academy) ranks second on GU in rebounding with 7.6 boards a contest and continues to be efficient in the offensive zone ranking third in the conference in field goal percentage. Akinjo is second in the BIG EAST in assists with 126 on the season, averaging 5.3 apg.
Seton Hall is coming off of a 63-58 victory against Creighton on Saturday. Myles Powell led the way with a team-high 22 points while picking up seven boards. Junior Quincy McKnight chipped in 14 points and also collected seven rebounds.
Wednesday's contest will mark the 106th overall meeting against Seton Hall, with the Hoyas holding the series lead, 58-47. Last season, Georgetown split the series with the Pirates with a thrilling 83-80 victory at home and a 74-61 loss at the Prudential Center. Pickett tallied 18 points in the win and Govan added 11 points in the road loss.
Following Wednesday's game, the Hoyas will return to the District as they welcome No. 13/13 Villanova to Capital One Arena on Wednesday, Feb. 20. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
