WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's golf team shot an opening round 295 to sit tied for eighth at the FAU Spring Invitational in Boca Raton, Florida on Friday. The Hoyas completed 14 holes in the second round before play was called because of darkness.
Patrick DiPasquale (Rochester, N.Y. / McQuaid Jesuit) and
Hardin Councill (High Point, N.C. / Westchester Country Day) shot matching rounds of 1-under par 71 to tie for eighth.
Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla. / Spanish River) carded a 74 to tie for 33rd,
Will O'Neill (Morristown, N.J. / Morristown) posted a 79 to tie for 66th and
Taso Scilaris (Bethesda, Md. / Walter Johnson) rounded out the grouping with an 83.
Bethune-Cookman (282) leads the 14-team field at 6-under par while host Florida Atlantic (286) and Central Florida (286) are both tied for second at two-under. Florida Gulf Coast (288) is the lone other school to shoot at least par on the opening day. Southern Illinois (290), Miami (Ohio) (292), George Mason (292), Houston Baptist (295), Hartford (295) and the Hoyas (295) are all in the middle of the pack. Rounding out the competition is UConn (296), Rhode Island (299), Murray State (306) and Xavier (316).
