Georgetown has Five Named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University football team had five graduating seniors selected to the 2019 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, as announced on Wednesday. Placekicker Oliver Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Deerfield Academy), linebacker Patrick Pastore (Albany, N.Y. / Christian Brothers Academy), offensive lineman Dominic Scarangella (Newtown, Conn. / Newtown), wide receiver John Schuster (Newton, Mass. / The Middlesex School) and quarterback Jowan Watson (Miami, Fla. / Gulliver Prep) were five of 29 Patriot League student-athletes to earn the prestigious academic honor.
 
An all-time high of 1,643 players from a record 424 schools across all divisions of play qualified for membership in the society's 13th year. To be eligible a student-athlete must be a starter or significant contributor with a cumulative 3.2 grade-point average (GPA) or better in their final year of eligibility.
 
Hill, a government major and theology minor, joined the Hoyas during his junior year. He kicked one extra point in 2017 before taking over the placekicking duties for the last couple of games of 2018. He connected on all six PAT attempts and was also true on his only field goal attempt, a 22-yard boot in the season finale against Holy Cross. Hill was a two-time selection to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
 
Pastore, a philosophy major, appeared in 10 games over his career. He had 14 tackles, including 1.5 sacks, in seven games as a junior in 2017. He appeared in three games in 2018 before his season was cut short due to injury. Pastore was a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
 
Scarangella, an English major and theology minor, graduated from the College in December. He made 27 starts on the offensive line in his career, including all 11 games in 2018. He earned the distinction of being selected to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll all five years on the Hilltop.
 
Schuster, a government major and economics minor, also joined the Hoyas during his junior year. He appeared in one game, seeing action at Colgate this past season. He was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in both of his seasons in a Hoya uniform.
 
Watson, a human science major, battled injuries during his career and did not see game action until his senior season, appearing in one game in 2018. He was also a two-time selection to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
 
The Hoyas are in the final week of the their spring practice schedule and will play their annual Blue & Gray Spring Scrimmage on Friday, April 12 at 6 p.m. at Cooper Field. Admission is free to the public.
