WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Women's Golf Head Coach Kate Schanuel has announced the addition of Elena Zheng to the roster for the upcoming 2019-20 season. Zheng, a native of Fuzhou, China, arrives to the Hilltop as a member of the Georgetown Class of 2023.
 
"We are excited to announce the addition of Elena to our program," Schanuel said. "She has experience at the international level and will add to the competitive depth of our incoming class."

Prior to Georgetown: Zheng attended the Fuzhou No. 8 High School, serving as a team captain of the golf team as a senior … Won the 16th Games Of FuJian (July 2018) with a 219 over three rounds, including a second-round 68 … Placed second at the 2017 Fujian Junior Golf Championship (July 2017) … Finished third at the China Golf Amateur Open (November 2018) … Was the top finisher in the qualifier at the AJGA Colonial Junior in Virginia (August 2018) … Was the top finisher in the qualifier, and placed sixth overall, at the AJGA Fore Performance in New York (August 2018) … Placed second in the qualifier and 11th overall at the AJGA Junior at Big Sky in Montana (August 2018).
 
The Hoyas finished second at the 2019 BIG EAST Championship Presented by Jeep at the Callawassie Island Golf Club in Callawassie, South Carolina. As a team, Georgetown finished among the top 10 in seven of its 10 tournaments on the season, highlighted by a team victory at the 2019 Hoya Invitational. Following the tournament, graduating seniors Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J. / Kent Place) and Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla. / St. Andrew's) both earned nods to the seven-member All-BIG EAST Team.
