Box Score 2 WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team wrapped up the second day of the 2019 Georgetown Classic with runner-up finish on Saturday at McDonough Arena. The Hoyas swept Central Connecticut 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-15) in the early match before falling 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-19) against Central Arkansas in the tournament championship showdown.
Georgetown 3, Central Connecticut 0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-15)
- The Hoyas swept CCSU to start 3-0 for the first time since 2012
- Georgetown hit .241 as a team and held the Blue Devils to a paltry .029
- Elissa Barbosa and Riley Wertzberger led the Blue & Gray with seven kills each
- Margo Snipe added six kills and Makayla Serrett chipped in five
- Serrett was a force at the net, leading all players with six blocks; Snipe added four
- Barbosa put together another double-digit dig performance with 11 while Kelly Chen had nine and Jessica Cusi tallied eight
Central Arkansas 3, Georgetown 0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-19)
- The Hoyas dropped the tournament finale, finishing as the runner-up of the 2019 Georgetown Classic
- Serrett and Vujosevic were both named to the All-Tournament Team
- Vujosevic led GU with nine kills, Barbosa had seven and Peyton Wilhite chipped in six
- Cusi added another eight digs for the Blue & Gray while Barbosa hauled in six
- Serrett was credited with another four blocks against the Sugar Bears
