Box Score WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team opened BIG EAST play with a 3-2 come-from-behind victory on the road at Providence on Friday evening. The Hoyas improve to 11-4 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
 
Georgetown 3, Providence 2 (24-26, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-8)
•    The win marks the second BIG EAST opening victory in as many seasons under Head Coach Toby Rens.
•    Georgetown last won league openers in back-to-back seasons in 2000-01.
•    The Blue & Gray's winning streak now stands at eight.
•    The list time GU posted an eight-match winning streak was in 1999.
•    With the win, Georgetown improved to 30-16 all-time against the Friars.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
•    Iva Vujosevic led the Hoyas with 14 kills.
•    Elissa Barbosa added 13 kills to go with 10 digs for her fourth double-double of the season..
•    Jessica Cusi led all players with 21 digs.
•    Brennan Wilhite had eight kills and added seven blocks at the net.
•    Margo Snipe posted nine kills without commiting and attack error.
 •   Margo Pivonka paced the offense with 36 assists..
 
FRIAR NOTES
•    Jennifer Leitman tied Vujosevic's match-high 14 kills and added 16 digs for a double-double.
•    Allison Barber also had a double-double with 34 assists and 15 digs.
