WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team had two student-athletes earn Patriot League Honorable Mention honors on Monday afternoon, as announced by the league office. Senior defensive lineman
Khristian Tate and sophomore wide receiver
Joshua Tomas both earned recognition for their performances in GU's 24-10 victory over Columbia on Saturday.
KHRISTIAN TATE
- Tate finished with seven tackles, 2.5 TFL, 2.0 sacks and one forced fumble to help lead a strong defensive effort.
- He had a 12-yard sack to stall a drive in the second quarter and a strip sack with 1:20 left to play that sealed the victory.
- This is the first weekly recognition of the season for Tate, a three-time All-Patriot League selection.
JOSHUA TOMAS
- Tomas accounted for 206 all-purpose yards on Saturday with 104 receiving yards, 21 rushing yards, 66 yards on three kickoff returns and a 15-yard punt return.
- The 104 receiving yards are a career high for Tomas and it his first career 100-yard receiving game. It is also the first for the Hoyas this season.
- This is the second-straight game that Tomas has earned Patriot League Honorable Mention recognition.
ABOUT SATURDAY'S WIN
- The Hoyas outgained Columbia 231-224 and the defense held the Lions to just 30 rushing yards on 35 attempts.
- The GU defense forced five turnovers on three interceptions and two fumble recoveries while recording four sacks.
- Georgetown reclaimed the Lou Little Trophy after losses to Columbia each of the past two seasons.
- The Hoyas recorded their first win over an Ivy League opponent since 2016, snapping an eight-game losing streak.
