WASHINGTON – Seniors
Jahvon Blair and
Jamorko Pickett combined for 41 points to lead Georgetown University's men's basketball team to an 80-48 victory over visiting Coppin State on Tuesday night. The Hoyas even their overall record to 2-2 while the Eagles fall to 0-4 on the season.
ON THE RECORD
"It was great to get back on track. I thought we played well against West Virginia for the most part. I thought for the most part my guys stepped up and got the job done. We tried to get the ball into Q to try to go against the mismatch, but then we were able to get the job to the weak side to our shooters and were able to make shots." Head Coach
Patrick Ewing on the team's performance
"They went small … they were trying to spread us out shooting threes, so we mixed it up and went zone some, we went five smalls like they did. We switched everything. We just tried to do a lot of different things and it worked." Ewing on the team's in-game adjustments to Coppin State's early success
"Everyone that came off the bench did a great job. All the freshmen that came in, Chudi when he came off the bench, I think the bench gave us a really big boost and I'm happy with the way the freshman came and played and stepped up." Pickett on the contributions from the bench and freshmen
